Today was the first day in which our group went to the town of El Hato.  We were given a tour of El Hato and also a long walk to visit some of the children's homes to see how they live.  the sheer distance that they have to travel by foot to school amazed me.  How they do that twice a day as children is remarkable to me.  One surprise of the day was that there was a t.v. in one of the homes, with the world cup playing.  

 

At night, we  went to the Monoloco along with the safe passage volunteers for dinner.  With the 2-for-1 pizza night, there was plenty of food to go around.  One particular volunteer, David, I talked with for most of the time, partially because he is from New Hampshire.
