In downtown Antigua it rained violently from Friday afternoon until early Sunday morning, but no black ash to report like Guatemala City. Today, Sunday, is dry, but many of the shops and restaurants are closed, as employees are unable to travel from their homes to their jobs due to closed or blocked roads or damage to their own houses. Many tourists here have boarded shuttle buses to the airport in San Salvador, where they have arranged flights back to the US. I manage to stay updated on road conditions from the private bus company located down the street.
